Station Fountain

At the beginning of the 20th century, a decisive step was taken towards the modernization of transport with the introduction of the trains from Olot to the comarques of Gironès, la Selva, and la Garrotxa. The full train route between Girona and Olot took place on December 14, 1911, although the section from Amer to Salt had been operating since 1895. This was the old train station of the line that connected Olot with Sant Feliu de Guíxols. In addition to the station building, some of the old dependencies are preserved, such as workshops, locomotive depots, tracks, covered and uncovered docks, and even a turntable. The station operated until 1969, when the train was dismantled and the stations were assigned to other uses. This station is part of the leisure and tourist route for pedestrians and bicycles of the vies verdes.

The rooms that still exist have been rehabilitated: in the main building of the station there is a shelter, in the old workshops a multipurpose room, and in the old garages a service point for motorhomes.
