The Sant Martí Fair and Castanyada of Amer is one of the most representative autumn celebrations in the La Selva region, renowned for its deep historical, cultural and gastronomic roots. Originating as a traditional livestock fair linked to the town’s medieval beginnings, it has evolved into a vibrant showcase of popular traditions, crafts and local produce.
Among the celebration’s most distinctive features are the Popular Castanyada and the Chestnut Roasting Competition. These activities have become symbols of Amer’s identity and help preserve traditional Catalan autumn customs.
The combination of history, gastronomy, popular culture and community participation makes this a well-established, family-friendly event with a strong capacity to endure over time.
