One of the goals of Enselva’t is to highlight local products, which are as diverse as the region of La Selva itself. That is why a selection of 8 representative local products has been brought together. Whether they come from the fields, the sea, or are artisanal sweets and crafted drinks, the region offers a wide variety for every taste.

Brunyola hazelnut

It is the quintessential nut of La Selva, with Brunyola as the hub of production. The main cultivated variety is “negreta,” renowned for its intense flavor and how easily it peels once roasted. It is enjoyed on its own, paired with other nuts, or as an ingredient in sweets, chocolates, and savory dishes.

Craft beers

Made with top-quality ingredients, craft beers from La Selva are a benchmark within Catalonia’s alcoholic beverage sector. A beer packed with character in every sip!

Sweets and pastries

La Selva is a sweet region—very sweet indeed. Sponge cakes (“pa de pessic”), “xerrics”, “sorrenes”, “teules”, and “tosquigets” are just a few of the region’s original confections. All of them are prepared with locally sourced ingredients and no preservatives.

Shrimp and Norway lobster from Blanes Fish Market

The red shrimp and Norway lobster from the Blanes Fish Market are two jewels of La Selva’s coastline. Featuring a reddish hue for the shrimp and a pinkish tone for the Norway lobster, they are famous for their tender and flavorful meat. Caught using trawling methods, they appear in fish dishes, rice, fideuà, or as stars in stir-fries and stews.

Dairy products from La Selva plain

In La Selva, milk is more than just a product; it is a tradition. Numerous dairy farms are concentrated across the plain. Some have specialized in producing a wide range of quality dairy products using traditional methods, including cheeses, yogurts, ice cream, and other desserts.

Oily fish from Blanes Fish Market

Oily fish is not only a delicacy in local gastronomy but also a vital source of nutrients for a healthy diet. The main fresh oily fish sourced from Blanes Fish Market are Mediterranean sand eel (“sonso”), sardines, and anchovies.

Traditional Ratafia

Crafting ratafia is one of the region’s most genuine traditions. Santa Coloma de Farners becomes its capital every November with the Ratafia Festival. Without a single set recipe, it is prepared by macerating green walnuts, wild herbs, roots, fruits, and various spices in brandy.

Salsify of La Selva

Characteristic of the region, salsify is a root vegetable highly valued in local cuisine for its delicate texture and mild flavor reminiscent of oysters. It can be served as a main dish or a side garnish. Its versatility allows it to pair exceptionally well with meat, fish, vegetables, and even sweet dishes.
