Situated very close to Font Alta, in the parallel alleyway, this fountain lies in a small landscaped area with a wooden bench and a stone wall. The spring flows into a sunken trough half a metre below ground level, and is regulated by a hand operated tap. Next to the fountain is the entrance to the mine, closed off by an iron door, where the spring water flows.
As well as for fetching water, fountains were also used for social gatherings, or fontades, which were public, family or neighbourhood events. These occurred mainly on summer evenings, taking advantage of the coolness of the later hours, and people would keep drinks and fruit cool in the spring water and enjoy meals and sing-alongs.
