Sant Marçal del Colomer is a small church founded at the start of the 11th century as a branch of the Monastery of Santa Maria d’Amer. It is located in the centre of the Colomer district, on the northeast side of the municipality of Amer. The building, which is privately owned, stands a little higher up than with the buildings next to it, which made up the Colomer farmhouse.
Although the church was affected by the earthquakes in the 15th century, it was rebuilt after that episode and currently conserves a good part of the original nave, with the original doorway with a semi-circular arch, open at the south side. On the west façade there is another entrance and a bell-gable with two arches, and there is a vestry attached to the north side. Major renovations were carried out to the rectangular apse a few years ago, enhancing the building with contemporary elements and design.
