Hostalric is one of the municipalities with the strongest historical character in the region, known for its impressive fortified complex and its rich medieval legacy, largely linked to the Viscounty of Cabrera. The silhouette of the castle and the walls defines a unique urban landscape, closely connected to the history of control and strategic passage through the territory.
This walled town preserves almost intact 600 metres of wall and eight towers that once protected the town centre. This entire architectural complex is listed as a Bé Cultural d’Interès Nacional.
The municipality has managed to preserve the value of its heritage and turn it into one of the main signs of identity of La Selva.
