Barcelona Gate

Barcelona Gate was one of the main entrances to the walled town and, as its name suggests, led to the road coming from the Count’s City. The old Royal Road ran right beside it. At the beginning of the 20th century, the original archway disappeared and, a few years later, in 1969, it was rebuilt slightly further back from its original location. Like the town walls, it is also built of basalt stone.
