Carrilet Station – Anglès

This was the old train station of Anglès, on the line that connected Olot with Girona. After electricity, the Olot train was the most important technological innovation that the comarques of Gironès, la Selva, and la Garrotxa saw at the beginning of the 20th century. The launch of that railway business meant the modernization of transport, offering much more speed and cargo capacity than the traditional system of tartanes and carts. The inauguration of the full route made by the new railway transport between Girona and Olot took place on December 14, 1911, although the section from Amer to Salt had already been operating since 1895. As for the Carrilet station in Anglès, its location, despite complaints from the population, was placed in front of the indústries Burés due to private conveniences. Since 1969, when the line stopped operating, the station was left in a state of abandonment and disuse until the renovation of the building and its surroundings in the 1990s.

Currently, the building of the old Carrilet station in Anglès serves two functions: as the headquarters of the local police and as a municipal warehouse. The surroundings, as you can see, have been landscaped and, like many of the sections of the carrilet, are adapted as a bike path of the Vies Verdes de Girona
