Anglès is a municipality with a historical and industrial character, where the emblematic site of the former Burés factory stands out. Elements such as the steam engine make it possible to understand closely the workings of a mechanism that, for decades, set the pace of life for an entire community.
The origins of Anglès date back to the Castle of Anglès, of which only a small section of wall remains today. The façades, doorways and windows of the buildings on Main Street, together with the arches spanning Lower Street, form part of the Gothic quarter’s valuable architectural and artistic heritage.
To enjoy a good panoramic view of the municipality and the Ter valley, it is recommended to climb up to the hermitage of Santa Bàrbara, located in the heart of the Les Guilleries Massif Protected Natural Area. The combination of local history, landscape and cultural life makes Anglès a very attractive place to discover an active inland La Selva full of memory.
