Can Palau Fountain – Arbúcies

In the municipality of Arbúcies there are more than one hundred identified springs, another example of the close and vital relationship with water. Throughout the town we find a series of springs, the so-called pump springs, which use a hydraulic pump or manual water pump to extract water from the groundwater table and thus take advantage of the water resources of the aquifers. There are six in total. These fountains are operated manually by pumping water through a handle. The taps and mechanisms of these fountains were made by the company Casals-Gómez, from Girona, and were installed in public wells in different streets of Arbúcies in 1908.

This fountain is located next to Can Palau in the Castell neighbourhood. It is a structure built in 1908 and restored in 2012.
