La Gabella is a late-Gothic style manor house documented since the 17th century and which over time has been used as a warehouse and shop, and later also as an inn and housing. In 1970, the house was acquired by the Town Council and currently is the headquarters of theEthnological Museum of Montseny
The name Gabella comes from an old tax that levied on some basic food products. The gabelles were warehouses where products subject to this contribution were kept. The building, with characteristics similar to other late-Gothic buildings in Arbúcies, has a square floor plan, consists of a ground floor, mezzanine and two floors, and a hipped roof. On the main facade, the semicircular voussoir door and several quadrangular windows with monolithic lintels stand out. It is believed to have been built by the master builders of the Brull family, who built other houses, churches, and mills in Arbúcies.
