The Montseny is a mountain massif forming part of the Serralada Prelitoral. It comprises three large, clearly differentiated mountainous areas: the Pla de la Calma; the area encompassing the Turó de l’Home and Les Agudes; and the Turó de Matagalls. The latter is linked to the ridge of the Turó de l’Home (1,705.8 m) and Les Agudes (1,705.4 m) by the Coll de Sant Marçal, where the headwaters of the Tordera river basin are located.
Les Agudes, at an altitude of 1,705 metres, is one of the massif’s most iconic mountains. Its summit lies at the meeting point of the municipalities of Arbúcies, in the comarca of La Selva, and Fogars de Montclús and Montseny, in the comarca of Vallès Oriental.
As for the drainage network, the main watercourses draining the Montseny massif are the Tordera, on the southern slope; the Riera d’Arbúcies, to the east; and the Congost, to the west.
