Tossa de Mar

Discover Tossa de Mar

Tossa de Mar is one of the three coastal municipalities of La Selva and is known for its natural beauty, its historical heritage and its welcoming atmosphere.

Located at the foot of the Espai d’Interès Natural del Massís de Cadiretes, in a Mediterranean forest landscape that includes a rich megalithic heritage, Tossa de Mar has always stood between the sea and the mountains. From Tossa, you can climb Puig de Cadiretes, visit dolmens and menhirs, and enjoy the forest, or enjoy the coastline, beaches and coves, and walk along the camins de ronda.

In the town centre there are Roman remains, such as those of the vil·la romana dels Ametllers, the Far de Tossa, or the Castell and the walled enclosure, which are the iconic image of Tossa de Mar. From the walled enclosure, El Pelegrí is celebrated every year, a pilgrimage from Tossa to Santa Coloma de Farners, which began as a vow made by the people to rid themselves of a plague, and whose tradition has continued to the present day.
