Over the last few decades, the craft beer boom has spread all over Catalonia. Many brands have been born in Catalonia thanks to this push, and the region of La Selva could not be any different, but with one very important peculiarity: only the craft beers from the region have a Selva character.
The love story of La Selva and craft beers began just over a decade ago. Interestingly, the three main breweries in the region had a similar origin: all three started as home producers for their own consumption.
It wasn’t until later that they managed to settle in larger and better equipped facilities, and thus began to market craft beers in La Selva and surrounding regions.
Currently, the production of Selvatane beers is sent throughout Spain and to other parts of the world such as the United States of America or New Zealand.
The world of brewing in Selva is in full growth. Year after year, new beers and innovative recipes arrive that surprise the interested public and add new followers to the cause.
The brewing companies in the region use top quality products to make their products. The alcoholic strength of the beers is usually between 3.5 and 13% in the case of the Selvatane companies.
In all cases, the beginnings were as home brewers. The vast majority of raw materials come from abroad.
The commitment to innovation and the development of new products is a constant. In La Selva, one of the smallest breweries in Catalonia coexists with another that reaches 100,000 liters/year.
