The Portal de Barcelona (Barcelona Gate) was one of the main entrances to the walled town and, as the name suggests, gave access to the road from Barcelona. The old Camí Ral (or Royal Road) also passes right by here. The original arch was destroyed at the beginning of the 20th century, but some years later, in 1969, it was rebuilt a little further back. Like the walls, the gateway is made out of basalt stone. You can probably guess the reason for the name of this gateway… Take a photo in front of the most majestic gateway of the medieval village of Hostalric and share it with your friends and family.
