The Llop Spring sprinwashhouse is located next to the route from the castle of Torcafelló to the Buscastell ice well. It was built in 1902 and restored by the Taller d’Història de Maçanet de la Selva (Maçanet History Workshop) in 2016.
The washhouse was used by the local inhabitants, and had a sign that read: “Fountain for drinking, laundry for washing, the owner and his friends, asking permission from Pedro Surós Viligeliu”. In addition, it also served as a water reservoir for irrigation of the plot of land where vegetables were grown.
With the advent of new methods of washing clothes, such as domestic washing machines, the structure was abandoned and deteriorated over time.
It has since been restored, and the washhouse now remains as a testimony to a bygone era, a part of our heritage.
