In 1880, Dr Modest Furest i Roca purchased the land on Les Ànimes Hill to exploit its thermal waters. These were initially marketed as “Agua del Puig de las Animas” and, from 1891 onwards, under the name Vichy Catalan. That same year, the Vichy Catalan Spa, designed by Gaietà Buïgas i Monrabà, was built. The success of the bottling plant drove the company’s growth, and S.A. Vichy Catalan was established in 1900. The building is notable for its Catalan Art Nouveau style, with Arab-inspired elements, horseshoe arches and crenellated towers.
