In 1880, Dr. Modest Furest i Roca bought the land of Puig de les Ànimes to exploit its thermal waters, which were first marketed as “Agua del Puig de las Animas” and, from 1891, under the name Vichy Catalan. That same year, the Balneari Vichy Catalan was built, designed by Gaietà Buïgas i Monrabà. The success of the bottling plant made the company grow and in 1900 the company SA Vichy Catalan was created. The building stands out for its modernist style with Arab influences, horseshoe arches and crenellated towers.
