The county of la Selva also has a Way of Saint James in the plain area of la Selva, which coincides with the ancient Roman route of the Via Augusta. In this case, it corresponds to the flattest sections of the routes that pass through la Selva. Specifically, the Way of Saint James, when passing through Girona, splits into two: the route that heads towards the mountainous area of la Selva and a new route that takes pilgrims towards Barcelona and enters la Selva via Riudellots de la Selva. From this town, the route branches again into one path that crosses the entire Selva plain towards Hostalric, or a variant towards the coast (Via de Marina). The Way of Saint James routes across the Selva plain pass through the municipalities of Riudellots de la Selva, Caldes de Malavella, Sils, Maçanet de la Selva, Massanes and Hostalric.
