Font de la Vaca – Caldes de Malavella

The Font de la Vaca is one of the thermal springs that form part of the rich hydrothermal heritage of Caldes de Malavella. Its name, closely linked to local traditions, reflects the historical connection between springs, rural life and the everyday culture of a town that has grown around water. Beyond the curious origin of its name, this spring is a visible example of the geothermal activity that remains active beneath the area.

Its waters emerge from underground rich in minerals, the result of a natural process that has shaped the history of Caldes for centuries. These same waters were already known and used during Roman times, when the town became one of the most important thermal centres in the region. The Font de la Vaca forms part of this legacy, which can still be experienced today.

Visiting the spring means discovering another expression of the thermal phenomenon that has given Caldes de Malavella its identity. Without monumental buildings or grand structures, its significance lies in what it represents: the connection between nature, history and the use of a resource that continues to flow after thousands of years. As part of Enselva’t, it is a stop that helps visitors understand how thermal heritage is woven into both the landscape and the collective memory of the town.
