Around Arbúcies there are more than a
hundred fonts, or water fountains, that have
been identified within the municipality. This is
yet another indication of the close and vital
relationship the town has with water.
In the different neighbourhoods of the town
these include a number of so-called fonts de
bomba, which use a hydraulic or manual water
pump to draw water from the water table via
a nearby well. There are six of these in total,
and they are unique in that they are operated
manually by pumping the water with a hand
crank. The taps and mechanisms of these
fountains were made by the Casals-Gómez
foundry in Girona in 1908.
Font de Can Salau
The Font de Can Salau water fountain is located
in Carrer del Castell street. It was built in 1908,
and last restored in 2012.
