El Diaconil – La Cellera de Ter

The former residence of the deacon, the original building dates from the 16th century. It is a twostorey construction on the corner of the Figaric Street, with a flat roof terrace.

Initially the building was a single unit, but during the 1950s it was converted into two separate, symmetrical dwellings, preserving only two first floor windows with their stone frames from the original.

The lintel of the right-hand window, that of house number 10, is engraved with letters that are difficult to make out, but which could represent the abbreviated word “Iesus”. On the lintel of the left window, number 9, a bas-relief shows two half-length figures, wearing a kind of skirt or long dress, and holding a shield that could correspond to a particular family.
