Santa Brígida Pilgrimage

On the first Sunday of February, Amer celebrates the Santa Brígida Pilgrimage, a popular festival that takes place at the hermitage of Santa Brígida, located on a rocky escarpment overlooking the Amer Valley. Residents and visitors climb it on foot or by bicycle to enjoy a day of tradition, coexistence, and popular culture.

Organized by the mountain group GEA Esquelles Amer with the support of the City Council, the gathering combines religious acts and festive activities. Among the most prominent are the mass and the singing of the goigs, the sardana dance, the rice-in-the-cassola contest, and the popular worldwide whistling contest with a snail. The party is completed with a popular breakfast or vermouth in a festive and family atmosphere.
