The heart of the festival beats with great solemnity at midday. The parish church of Sant Vicenç hosts a solemn service, a sung mass that often features the accompaniment of orchestras, enhancing the beauty of the occasion. At the end of the liturgy, a respectful silence falls over the ramparts as the procession of the Santa Cruz begins. The procession, led by the authorities, the faithful and the musicians, slowly makes its way along the cobbled streets overlooking the sea, transporting those present to another era. One of the most moving moments is the blessing of the land: the procession stops at strategic points to symbolically bless the fields and the waters of Tossa’s sea, asking for protection and prosperity for the fishermen and the townspeople.

Finally, the celebration takes on a much more joyful, popular and maritime character in Armes Square, located inside the fortress. There, with the Mediterranean landscape as a backdrop, the music of the cobla begins to play, giving way to a performance of sardanas. Circles of dancers form spontaneously in the May afternoon light, uniting locals and visitors in a circle that symbolises fellowship and Catalan identity. It is the perfect finale to a day in which Tossa de Mar demonstrates that it knows how to preserve its cultural heritage with pride, delicacy, and a beauty that lingers in the memory.
