Corpus Christi mats in Blanes

The Corpus Christi Carpets transform the historic center of Blanes into a mosaic of colors, flowers and aromas every year. This traditional festival, one of the most emblematic in the town, fills the streets of the Raval neighborhood with handmade floral carpets made with flowers, leaves, bark and other natural elements.

Throughout Sunday, the historic center becomes an open-air workshop where residents, artists and organizations jointly create these carpets. The result is a visual and aromatic spectacle that surprises young and old.

The tradition of floral mats for Corpus Christi dates back many years, but over the past 40 years it has gained momentum to make this event what it is today: a visual and aromatic spectacle. It takes place in the streets of the Raval neighborhood closest to the church of Santa Maria.

The mats represent motifs linked to Blanes, such as the town’s coat of arms, maritime landscapes and elements of Mediterranean culture.
