The festival of Sant Cristòfol is still very much alive in several towns in the La Selva region, where the traditional blessing of vehicles and recognition of the patron saint of drivers and travelers is maintained year after year.
Municipalities such as Maçanet de la Selva, Santa Coloma de Farners, Sant Hilari Sacalm, Anglès, Hostalric, Breda, Blanes, or Arbúcies preserve this popular celebration, which is part of the cultural and festive heritage of our towns.
The day, usually celebrated around July 10, brings together cars, motorbikes, bicycles, tractors, and trucks in an event that combines tradition, coexistence, and popular devotion. The blessing of Sant Cristòfol thus becomes a sign of continuity of a deep-rooted custom that has been passed down from generation to generation and that still unites entities, parishes, drivers, and families from all over the region.
Keeping this festival alive is also preserving part of the collective identity of La Selva and the world of transport and travelers, so historically linked to our towns and roads.
