The original building dates from the 11th century and was rebuilt in the 17th century. Originally, it was a chapel dependent on the monestir d’Amer. It is very possible that during the earthquakes of 1427 it was totally or partially demolished, as indicated by the different constructive parts inside and outside. Every first Sunday of February, the aplec de Santa Brígida is celebrated, coinciding with the day of Santa Brígida d’Irlanda (February 1st), an Irish saint from the 5th-6th centuries whose name means “the strongest” in Gaelic.
It is an isolated hermitage located on top of a cliff with excellent views over the vall d’Amer and the entrance to les Guilleries. The construction consists of an original building with a rectangular plan and a semicircular apse, covered with a gable roof. Right next to the hermitage, on the north slope, there is a cistern fountain called font de Sant Bernat and the remains of an old construction.
