Hermitage of Santa Anna- Breda

The Hermitage of Santa Anna stands on a small hill at the entrance to Breda, dominating the surroundings and forming part of the municipality’s most characteristic landscape. The current building is the result of a renovation carried out between 1785 and 1799, although a chapel is already documented in 1624. It is a single-nave temple, with a semicircular apse in the interior and a simple floor plan.

The façade features a lowered-arch doorway with stone voussoirs, side windows and a small upper oculus. At the top stands a curved Baroque-style pediment with a bell gable.

Inside, the nave is covered with groin vaults and transverse arches, and it preserves a simple altar with the image of Santa Anna. The sacristy, added in 1862, is an annexed square-plan volume. It maintains a strong link with local tradition and continues to be a heritage and devotional landmark of the municipality.
