Gothic Fountain – Blanes

The material remains of this administration and its governing works are still visible in several places throughout the viscountcy. The Viscountcy of Cabrera was a territory of dynamic commercial activity and was well represented by its markets, its area of greatest influence, and also availed of a good connection with maritime routes.

The Gothic fountain was undertaken around 1438 by Violant de Prades, viscountess of Cabrera, and the local trade guild. It is the best-preserved example of Catalan civil Gothic architecture and one of the most important in Europe. In its construction, local microgranite was used, but also Girona stone with Mallorca limestone for the ornamental elements.
