The wall-walk—sometimes called an alure or chemin de ronde—is a protected walkway that runs along the top of the wall, which historically played a very important role, as it facilitated communication between the towers. It also protected the knights from enemy attacks, and allowed them to combat assailants from the shelter of the battlements. Over the years much of this path has been destroyed, as other constructions have been built on top of the wall. Want to walk along the top of the wall? Come to the Oficina de Turisme (Tourist Office) and ask for the key to the town to gain access. You can follow the wall-walk from the Torre Tuies Negra to the Torre de Barcelona, and climb up Ararà Tower.
