Since 1978, Salitja, a town within the municipality of Vilobí d’Onyar, has celebrated the Salitja Song Contest, a musical event that was born with a very local spirit and has ended up attracting musicians from all over the Catalan countries. It is the most popular activity in its Festa Major program.
The competition is known for promoting amateur talent. The jury awards several prizes to the top finishers, and there is also a popular vote award, where the audience in the square chooses their favorite song of the night.
