The hermitage of Sant Romà, in Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, is a small religious building located on raised ground on the outskirts of the village. Despite its modest size, it forms part of the municipality’s protected heritage as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest and maintains a strong connection with the rural landscape around it.
The building is simple and well preserved. It has a single nave, a horseshoe-shaped apse and elements added in the modern period, such as the sacristy on the south side and the westward extension of the nave, where the entrance door, the two-opening bell gable and the front porch are located. These changes do not reduce its value; rather, they explain the continued use of a space that has adapted over time.
Sant Romà is not a monument designed to impress, but a place that helps visitors understand the religious and rural life of Sant Feliu de Buixalleu on a more human scale. As part of Enselva’t, it is a stop for discovering small but deeply rooted heritage, where popular architecture, local memory and the surrounding landscape remain closely connected.
