Church of Sant Llorenç de Gaserans- Sant Feliu de Buixalleu

The church of Sant Llorenç de Gaserans is located in the neighbourhood of the same name, within the municipality of Sant Feliu de Buixalleu, in a rural setting historically linked to Montsoriu Castle and the former batllia of n’Orri. It is a parish of medieval origin that has evolved over the centuries.

The building consists of a single nave with a semicircular apse and features a Baroque-style crowning façade. The entrance door is rectangular with a monolithic lintel, and above it there is a niche with the image of Sant Llorenç and a stained-glass oculus. On the right side façade, Lombard arches, a sundial and a buttress reinforcing the wall stand out. The bell tower is a square tower with a pyramidal roof, and the complex shows several extensions over time, with plastered and white-painted walls. The rectory is located next to the church.

Historically, the church is documented as linked to the monastery of Sant Salvador de Breda from the 11th century, with references from 1038 and its consecration in 1086 by Bishop Berenguer Guifré of Girona. It preserves original elements such as the semicircular apse, fragments of wall with Lombard arches and remains of the original bell tower. Throughout its history it has undergone several renovations, notably the 19th-century intervention that gives the façade its current evolved Baroque style.
