Voltes del carrer Ample

The material remains of the governing activities of the viscounts of Cabrera and their officials are still visible in several places throughout the viscountcy. The Viscountcy of Cabrera was a territory with dynamic commercial activity, well represented by its markets, and it also benefited from good connections to maritime routes.

The arches visible on the lower part of the buildings to the right of the Gothic fountain are the remains of the former medieval vaults and arcades of Carrer Ample, which were associated with the town’s commercial activities from the time they were built. In 1349, Blanes was granted the privilege of holding a weekly market by King Pere el Cerimoniós.
