The Viscountcy of Cabrera bordered territories controlled by other feudal lordships (Cardona, Montcada, Cruïlles, the Church, etc.), with which it maintained relations that, depending on the period and circumstances, could be more or less cordial.
The Church of Sant Romà was consecrated in 1522 and replaced an older church of the same name as the parish church (the present-day santuari de la Mare de Déu de les Alegries) when the population moved from inland areas towards the coast. It is a rectangular building in a transitional style between Catalan Gothic and the Renaissance, and was fortified to defend against pirate raids and other dangers coming from the sea. Later renovations were carried out, especially at the beginning of the 20th century, giving it the modernist appearance that can still be seen today, with decorative coloured tiles. In the 16th century, the territory of Lloret was under the rule of the canons of Girona Cathedral.
