Sant Hilari Sacalm is a municipality known as the town of the 100 springs, as it has a rich heritage of springs spread throughout its natural and forested surroundings. It is also known for its thermal tradition, as it has a therapeutic spa.
In Sant Hilari Sacalm, the presence of imposing forests, nature trails and hills as emblematic as Sant Miquel de les Formigues, the highest peak in the Natural Interest Area of the Guilleries massif, is the defining feature of the municipality’s landscape.
One of the traditions of this area has always been the trade of the trementinaires and the wrongly named witches, women who healed the sick with natural medicines made from herbs and who, on many occasions, were unjustly persecuted. For this reason, every year, the Embruix is celebrated, an event that gives a voice to the witches and the trementinaires.
