Riudellots de la Selva is a municipality located in an area of passage and connection, but at the same time with a strong local identity. In fact, the ancient Roman route of the Via Augusta passed through the municipality, located in the heart of the Selva plain. The municipality is crossed by several watercourses, the main one being the river Onyar, which has caused numerous floods throughout history and conditioned the current location of the village.
The Església de Sant Esteve, of Gothic origin, and the fortified farmhouse of Torre Ponça are some of the heritage elements that can be found in the municipality, among others.
One of the most distinctive features of Riudellots de la Selva is the municipality’s industrial tradition, especially in the agri-food sector. So much so that every year Fiporc is held there, a fair dedicated to pork that attracts thousands of visitors every year.
