Riells i Viabrea is located at the foot of the Parc Natural del Montseny (Biosphere Reserve), where the landscape and proximity to the mountains clearly define the character of the territory. The municipality, the result of the union of the parishes of Sant Martí de Riells and Sant Llop de Viabrea, has small settlements, forests and open spaces that offer nature and tranquillity.
The two parishes, together with the Torre d’en Pega and the Torre d’en Montfort, are some of the remains that show how the municipality formed part of the domains within the Viscounty of Cabrera.
The municipality also maintains an important link with the river Tordera, to which it is connected by following the Tourdera route.
Main section of the Camino de Santiago de la Selva through the mountain area, coinciding with the Carrilet Greenway.
