Anglès is a municipality with a historical and industrial character, where the emblematic site of the former Burés factory stands out. Elements such as the steam engine make it possible to understand closely the workings of a mechanism that, for decades, set the pace of life for an entire community.
The origin of Anglès dates back to a medieval castle, of which only a small fragment of wall remains today. The façades, doorways and windows of the buildings on carrer Major, as well as the arcades that cross carrer d’Avall, form part of the valuable architectural and artistic heritage of the Gothic centre.
To enjoy a good panoramic view of the municipality and the Ter valley, it is recommended to climb up to the Ermita de Santa Bàrbara, located in the heart of the Espai Natural Protegit del Massís de les Guilleries. The combination of local history, landscape and cultural life makes Anglès a very attractive place to discover an active inland La Selva full of memory.
