Ermitage of Sant Julià del Llor and Bonmatí

The hermitage of Sant Julià del Llor is located on the highest hilltop of the municipality (295 m), in a strategic position overlooking the valley and the river courses. It is a religious complex of very ancient origin, set within an area of great landscape and historical value.

The building consists of a single nave with a semicircular apse and preserves a 12th-century Romanesque structure, consecrated in 1125 by the Bishop of Vic, Ramon Gaufred. Later additions include the rectory, sacristy, wooden choir and side chapels. The current façade combines a 19th-century doorway with an upper oculus, while the bell gable and annex structures complete the complex.

The hermitage is part of a historical settlement documented since the 10th century (949), when it is first mentioned as linked to the monastery of Santa Maria d’Amer. Over the centuries it has served as a parish centre and a religious reference point for the territory, undergoing major renovations during the Middle Ages and the modern period.
