Riells i Viabrea is located at the foot of the Montseny Natural Park (Biosphere Reserve), where the landscape and proximity to the mountains clearly define the character of the territory. The municipality, the result of the union of the parishes of Sant Martí de Riells and Sant Llop de Viabrea, has small settlements, forests and open spaces that offer nature and tranquillity.
The two parishes, together with the Pega’s Tower and the Montfort Tower, are some of the remains that show how the municipality formed part of the domains within the Viscounty of Cabrera.
The municipality also maintains an important link with Tordera river, to which it is connected by following the Tourdera route.
