Pumpenbrunnen in der Straße Carrer de Damunt – Arbúcies

In the municipality of Arbúcies there are more than one hundred identified springs, another example of the close and vital relationship the town has with water.

Throughout the town we find a series of springs, the so-called pump springs, which use a hydraulic pump or manual water pump to extract water from the groundwater table and thus take advantage of the water resources of the aquifers. There are six in total. These fountains are operated manually by pumping water through a handle. The taps and mechanisms of these fountains were made by the company Casals-Gómez, from Girona, and were installed in public wells in different streets of Arbúcies in 1908.

The fountain is located on the façade of Cal Cisteller, on Carrer de Damunt, which was awarded in the street beautification competition in 1972. The fountain was built in 1908 and was last restored in 2012.
