Le monast\u00e8re b\u00e9n\u00e9dictin de Santa Maria d\u2019Amer, fond\u00e9 autour de l\u2019an 820 par l\u2019abb\u00e9 Deodat, fut consacr\u00e9 en 949 par l\u2019\u00e9v\u00eaque Gotmar en remplacement du monast\u00e8re de Sant Medir et Sant Gen\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Le monast\u00e8re devint progressivement puissant et, en 1080, \u00e0 la suite de la r\u00e9forme agraire gr\u00e9gorienne, il fut le seul des terres gironines \u00e0 ne pas \u00eatre uni \u00e0 aucune maison \u00e9trang\u00e8re. La pleine ind\u00e9pendance et autonomie dont il jouissait furent confirm\u00e9es directement depuis Rome, en 1186, par la bulle papale de Cl\u00e9ment, qui corroborait les libert\u00e9s et les possessions du monast\u00e8re.<\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 les effets des tremblements de terre du XV\u1d49 si\u00e8cle, au cours desquels le clo\u00eetre et une partie de l\u2019\u00e9glise s\u2019effondr\u00e8rent, l\u2019importance du monast\u00e8re resta intacte : en 1485, l\u2019accord qui pr\u00e9c\u00e9da la r\u00e9solution du conflit remen\u00e7a y fut sign\u00e9 et, aux XVI\u1d49 et XVII\u1d49 si\u00e8cles, certains abb\u00e9s d\u2019Amer devinrent pr\u00e9sidents de la Generalitat. Le monast\u00e8re fut ferm\u00e9 \u00e0 la suite de l\u2019exclaustration de 1835.<\/p>\n

L\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ment roman le plus remarquable de l\u2019ensemble est l\u2019\u00e9glise, qui sert actuellement de temple paroissial. Couronn\u00e9e par quatre absides avec les typiques arcatures lombardes \u00e0 l\u2019ext\u00e9rieur, la structure principale des trois nefs et la base du clocher sont \u00e9galement romanes. Les vestiges du clo\u00eetre furent localis\u00e9s lors de fouilles en 1989 et demeurent actuellement enfouis, tandis que les d\u00e9pendances monastiques appartiennent \u00e0 des r\u00e9formes post\u00e9rieures aux tremblements de terre.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
