The\u00a0Tordera\u00a0River and the\u00a0Arb\u00facies Stream are\u00a0excellent examples of\u00a0watercourses that have\u00a0greatly shaped\u00a0both the landscape\u00a0and the human\u00a0settlement of their\u00a0surroundings. Among the\u00a0many functions they\u00a0fulfil, they also\u00a0offer\u00a0significant opportunities\u00a0for tourism development, particularly through active\u00a0tourism.<\/p>\n<p data-assistant-stream-block=\"\" data-assistant-stream-block-index=\"12\">The\u00a0<strong>Tordera and Arb\u00facies\u00a0Stream Route<\/strong>\u00a0project was created\u00a0through\u00a0the joint commitment\u00a0of the public\u00a0authorities promoting the\u00a0initiative to enhance\u00a0the natural, cultural\u00a0and intangible heritage\u00a0associated with the\u00a0Tordera River and\u00a0its basin. The\u00a0project promotes hiking\u00a0and cycle tourism\u00a0along these two\u00a0important waterways, following\u00a0the example\u00a0of other renowned\u00a0river routes such\u00a0as the\u00a0<strong>Danube Cycle Route<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>Rh\u00f4ne Route<\/strong>, and, closer\u00a0to home, the\u00a0<strong>Muga Nature Trail<\/strong>\u00a0in Alt Empord\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p data-assistant-stream-block=\"\" data-assistant-stream-block-index=\"13\">The Tordera basin\u00a0enjoys\u00a0an exceptional setting\u00a0for a project\u00a0of this kind, thanks to its\u00a0excellent transport connections,\u00a0its proximity to\u00a0the Costa Brava, the Montseny Natural\u00a0Park, well-developed\u00a0tourism infrastructure,\u00a0outstanding coastal and\u00a0mountain landscapes, and\u00a0rich cultural\u00a0heritage. By adapting\u00a0the route for\u00a0hiking and cycling, the project aims\u00a0to attract visitors\u00a0interested in discovering\u00a0the region and\u00a0its heritage, diversify\u00a0the current tourism\u00a0offer,\u00a0help reduce seasonality, strengthen territorial\u00a0cohesion, and become\u00a0a driver of\u00a0economic activity for\u00a0local service providers, businesses and public\u00a0facilities\u00a0throughout the participating\u00a0municipalities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>River environments are\u00a0places\u00a0of outstanding heritage\u00a0value, both for\u00a0their environmental and\u00a0productive significance\u00a0and for the\u00a0important social role\u00a0they play.
