The Can Batllosera bunker is a half-buried, rectangular structure that served as a defensive element in the event of an attack. Like all bunkers, it was made of concrete and, in this case, it has two entrances, one on each of the long sides of the rectangle. The central part, or the shelter, has a series of six tiny windows. The galleries leading down to the lower floor are made with tiles and wooden beams, arranged in a ramp as far as the bunker.<\/p>\n
During the Spanish Civil War, from spring 1938, Can Batllosera was the place of residence of the military authorities working at the Vidreres plain airfield, located in the neighbouring fields. The bunker was built as a shelter for the command headquarters. The camp\u2019s officers and non-commissioned officers, on the other hand, stayed at Can Xiberta, a house located on Carrer d\u2019Orient in the village. In total, during this period there were four major bombings in the area, which caused some military and civilian casualties and material damage, and some farmhouses were damaged.<\/p>\n
