Located at the top of the Vila Vella, above the walled enclosure and on the site once occupied by the medieval castle, the lighthouse brings together two very different histories in the same place: coastal defence and guidance for sailors.<\/p>\n<p>Built in 1917, the lighthouse replaced the military role of this elevated point with a maritime and technical function. From this headland, it overlooks the coastline and recalls the importance the sea has always had in the life of Tossa. It is not only a structure designed to guide vessels, but also an element that has become part of the town\u2019s image and one of its most identifiable features.<\/p>\n<p>Its location is an essential part of its value. Reaching the lighthouse means walking through the Vila Vella, understanding the strategic position of the former castle and viewing the coast from a privileged point.
