The excavation work, carried out in several stages between 1914 and 2006, uncovered almost the entire residential part (the pars urbana) and one sector of the part devoted to agricultural activities (the pars rustica).<\/p>\n<p>Perched on the sunny side of Can Mag\u00ed hill, some of the rooms of the residential part of the villa (the upper terrace) are paved with pretty tessellated mosaics. Summer and winter dining rooms, rooms for receiving guests, private rooms, kitchens, baths with pools for hot, lukewarm and cold water, a precise water circulation and hydraulic system and two monumental gardens have been identified in this sector.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, on the lower terrace, there are areas devoted to farming and storage, including a series of storage pits and four wine-pressing rooms.<\/p>\n<p>The villa functioned between the 1st century BC and the 5th century AD and was to become the starting point for the future town of Tossa.
