The Old Bridge was built in the 15th century, after an earthquake destroyed its predecessor. Since then, it has been rebuilt several times. Its main purpose is to join the two parts of the town, which are separated by the Osor River.<\/p>\n

At first sight, this large stone bridge appears to have just a single arch. However, we know that smaller arches (as many as four) are hidden beneath the surrounding building. This indicates that the bridge was originally very large, far bigger than the one we see today. But urban expansion and demographic growth proved very counterproductive for the bridge, encroaching on a large proportion of its physical space.<\/p>\n

The Osor River originates between the towns of Espinelves and Sant Hilari Sacalm from the point at which the Gran River, which runs down from the Pla de les Arenes plain at 1,060 meters, converges with water from the Muntanyeta stream, the Pla Esteve gully, and the streams of Gobarra, El Coll, and Sant Gregori, as well as from the streams to the north, Sant Miquel, Llavanyes, and Santa Barbara. Its tributaries include the following streams: Mas Quinta, El Carbonell, La Maduixa, Les Ribes or La Noguerola, La Gironella or La Grevolosa, and Can Pelleringa, as well as many other torrents, brooks, and ravines.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
