The Coll de Ruscall is a well-known crossroads of historical paths. More specifically, the Cami Ral (Royal Way) between Girona and Vic and the road between Santa Coloma de Farners and Osor passed through this point. It was an area heavily frequented by travellers and muleteers, and there was no lack of bandits, who took advantage of these strategic points to commit robbery. As the popular saying goes: \u201cA la Gironella i el Ruscall si pot ser no hi aneu mai\u201d (Avoid going to Gironella and Ruscall, if you can), referring to how dangerous the place was.<\/p>\n
Nowadays, the Coll de Ruscall is no longer a strategic communication point as it was in the past, but it is of importance to hikers. Several hiking routes pass through here, including the one dedicated to the best-known bandit from the Guilleries massif, Serrallonga.
