The Sanctuary of Sant Pere del Bosc represents over a thousand years of history. Its origins as a Benedictine monastery date back to 986 AD, after an attack on the Convent de Blanes. This was when what we now know as Sant Pere del Bosc was built, although at that time it was known as Sant Pere Salou, a group of buildings around a chapel. It has suffered many attacks over the years, for example during the Peninsular War and the Spanish Civil War. Nicolau Font then bought the property and devoted himself wholeheartedly to restoring it, with the help of several prominent figures in the applied arts such as the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, the sculptor Eusebi Arnau, and the painter and decorator Enric Monserd\u00e0, among others. Moreover, it was at that time that a kind of spiritual and artistic path was created between Lloret and the sanctuary, with important monuments being built such as wayside crosses, the Pedr\u00f3 de la Mare de D\u00e9u de Gr\u00e0cia (Cairn of the Our Lady of Grace) and the monument popularly known as the L\u2019\u00c0ngel (the Angel). At present, Sant Pere del Bosc, which is still in the hands of the descendants of Nicolau Font, houses a restaurant and a hotel, opened in 1981 and 2011 respectively.
