This is yet another indication of the close and vital relationship the town has with water. In the different neighbourhoods of the town these include a number of so-called fonts de bomba, which use a hydraulic or manual water pump to draw water from the water table via a nearby well. There are six of these in total, and they are unique in that they are operated manually by pumping the water with a hand crank. The taps and mechanisms of these fountains were made by the Casals-G\u00f3mez foundry in Girona in 1908.<\/p>\n<p>Font de Can Mero<\/p>\n<p>This water fountain is located next to Can Mero, very close to the Can Jombo washhouse, the best preserved in Arb\u00facies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Around Arb\u00facies there are more than a hundred fonts, or water fountains, that have been identified within the municipality.
